January 12th - 6:30 PM Giles Arts Council Monthly Meeting. Location: Pearisburg Community Center (old KJ school) second floor. Meeting is open to all.

February 2009

February 3rd, 2009 3:30 PM -A presentation about "Round the Mountain - Southwest Virginia's Artisan Network " will be held at the Giles County Administrative Office, 315 N. Main St, Pearisburg. This presentation is open to all artist in Giles County.

Friday, February 6, 2009, Swedish Embroidery -Melissa Barnhart, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
The Giles County Historical Society and the Giles Arts Council present the second Needle Arts Class of 2009 on February 6th.  Missy Barnhart will teach Swedish Embroidery from 1:30-3pm at the Historical Society.  Swedish Embroidery, also known as Huck Embroidery, has been around for centuries, but became popular in the United States in the 1940s.  The embroidery was used to decorate the edges of towels and other fabrics with an open weave.

  • anuary 14th - 6:30 PM Giles Arts Council Monthly Meeting,was held at the Edgewood United Methodist Church in Ripplemead, Va. 
  • January 19th - Photography Mentoring Program.

     

2007
  • Dec 15 -The June Bug Center's Production of "How Scrooge the Goat Almost Ended Christmas."
  • August 25 - First of a series of Artist Mentoring sessions was held at the Court House Cafe.
  • July 9th - 13th - The GAC in cooperation with The June Bug Center of Floyd held a drama camp. Thirty four campers ages five through 14 attended the camp held at Giles High School.
